“Beau Woods, WA senate candidate for The Climate Sceptics

What are your thoughts on asylum seekers? The asylum seeker issue is a political red herring. Compared to Europe and the USA our illegal immigration is insignificant. This issue is diverting attention from the real issues.

What are your thoughts on public transport? Support

What are your thoughts on renewable energy? It’s great – when it is cost competitive with conventional means such as solar in remote Australia. However we have been conned into getting a ‘warm fuzzy’ from renewable energy and pay through the nose for the privilege. For example, putting a solar array on every roof will be a visual demonstration of a governments green credentials. However, it would cost half as much to put that capacity in a paddock 50km away in a commercial sized array. Either option will result in a dramatic rise in the cost of electricity. Renewable energy is an expensive option currently in most instances, so let the market decide without any artificial manipulation via a carbon tax.

Do you support or oppose the introduction of the R18+ rating classification for video games? Support

Do you support or oppose the proposed internet filter? Completely oppose. This is a blatant waste of funds and attempt to control the freedom of individuals. The argument that it will stop access to extreme types of pornography is false as peer to peer sharing or other methods will easily circumvent the filter.

Do you support or oppose gay marriage? Support civil unions.

What are your thoughts on abortion? Support status quo.

Do you support or oppose the legalisation of volutary euthanasia? Support in very limited circumstances.

What are your thoughts on stem cells research? Support.

What are your thoughts on education? The education revolution has been a massive overspend and will not result in a better educated population.

What are your thoughts on campaign finance disclosure? Support. In the interest of full disclosure – Big oil, big coal and in fact big anything have contributed a grand total of NOTHING to The Climate Sceptics. We are a completely grassroots party. The total campaign fund for WA – $500. Current government’s ‘initiatives’ $15 billion. The well funded climate sceptics is a complete falsehood. Any donations are very welcome!

What are your thoughts on climate change? The issue here is not climate change. The climate always changes. It has been much hotter than currently in the medieval or roman warm period and much colder in the recent little ice age, irrespective of carbon dioxide levels. In fact, in prehistoric times atmospheric CO2 levels were at 7000 parts per million (in contrast to 385 ppm now) well before the internal combustion engine. It’s time Australians see this climate change (man-made global warming theory) for what it is. A massive over exaggeration designed to limit personal freedoms and tax us into oblivion driven by vested corporate interests. The European carbon trading scheme has over 7.4 billion euros of fraudulent activity last year since these schemes get too large to effectively monitor and audit all operators. By 2020 the global carbon trade is tipped to exceed 3 TRILLION USD paid for by Joe consumer/taxpayer, and it won’t make one jot of difference to global temperature.

What are your thoughts on water? We should be recycling water and looking at infrastructure investment that will guarantee water supplies as Australia has plenty of water – just not where the population is.

Do you support or oppose standing order 50? I think there are more important issues at stake here

Are there any local issues you are trying to highlight with your campaign? The re-branded Super Profits Tax is absolutely against the interests of West Australians as it is a tax on the WA economy. Furthermore it is likely to be unconstitutional as mineral wealth is well defined as a state right. So it is not a fairer deal for ALL Australians because the resources of WA are not within the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth. The ALP with their Green mates are trying to sneakily use the Commonwealth company powers to bring in an extra tax on one (vitally important) sector of the economy. The Climate Sceptics are completely opposed to the Super Profits Tax, by any name.

Though group voting tickets have not been submitted yet, do you have an idea on where your preferences will be going? The Greens are last.
