CDP Candidate for Macquarie, Luke Portelli, responded :

“Luke Portelli’s (Macquarie Candidate) Thoughts
On Asylum Seekers
People who are keen to flee from war and persecution have a basic human right to start a new life in a foreign country especially Australia which has so much geographical space.
On Public Transport
Public transport in NSW is a complete sham. It is almost third world.
On R18+ Games
The introduction of the R18+ rating for videos and games is the right way to go especially with games that contain a lot of unnecessary violence that can be harmful to children’s growing emotions and thought patterns.
On Internet Filter
The internet filter is a good thing if administered properly. Though I do believe in everyone’s freedom, some things should definitely be filtered such as explicit sexual content (of all forms), the display of nudity in heavily accessed areas and the reduction of internet advertising in particular places.
On Gay Marriage
I strongly oppose gay marriage, gay civil unions and gay people adopting children.
On Abortion
Abortion is always wrong and evil as it interferes with the start of natural human life taking place no matter what the consequences or ideas of the mother.
On Voluntary Euthanasia
I strongly oppose any form of voluntary euthanasia as I see it as a form of suicide. I suggest better support services for patients and their families in this difficult period.
On Stem Cell Research
Stem cells which are taken form the umbilical cord is highly useful and morally acceptable. Stem Cells taken from a newly conceived embryo though is not right and goes against the protection of human life.
On Education
Being a student myself, I believe Education can always be improved.
On Campaign Finances
Politicians need to travel and advertise, though I think it should be done more productively.
On Climate Change
Common sense is the major key in monitoring climate change.
On Water
I think we should drink more of it.

The issues that I would like to highlight in my campaign is the “crumbling” of society as a happy and positive environment to one of addiction and despair.
The media’s coverage of the election is shallow and only touches on the subjects which they think are important.

Every time I see a CDP candidate endorse the R18+ rating, I can’t help but feel it’s that little bit closer to actually happening.

remember david, almost everyone endorsed it…. i think atkinson was like, one in a million… ok, one in 100,000 probably… and given the response to the discussion paper, we’re only the next AGM away from it i think.
