Country Alliance gains federal registration
Country Alliance has been registered for federal elections by the Australian Electoral Commission
(refer to list of registered parties at www.aec.gov.au)
We ran 37 candidates at the 2010 Victorian state election and averaged more than 4% (the
threshold for public funding) in both the upper and lower houses. We achieved over 20% of the
primary vote in the lower house seat of Shepparton. We missed out on an upper house berth by a
very narrow margin
We decided to apply for federal registration after being urged to do so by our growing supporter
base, following our success at the 2010 Victorian State Election. Our party has a keen interest in a
number of federal issues such as the carbon tax (which we oppose).
A number of our candidates have already expressed an interest to stand as candidates for us in
federal elections.
