LDP Candidate for Gilmore, Donald Keys, responded :

“> What are your thoughts on asylum seekers?

> Maintenance of mandatory detention for unauthorized arrivals for security and health checks,
after which they can apply for temporary release (with bail conditions) while their application is being processed.
>
> What are your thoughts on public transport?

Public transport should be supplied by the private sector, not government.
>
> What are your thoughts on renewable energy?

The LDP does not believe in either subsidising or unfairly taxing any particular source of energy.
Energy is a vital element of any economy and the LDP recognises the valuable contribution the energy sector (and especially coal) makes to the Australian economy.
>
> Do you support or oppose the introduction of the R18+ rating classification for video games?

I do not support censorship of any kind.
>
> Do you support or oppose the proposed internet filter?

I strongly object to internet filtering. Freedom of information is fundamental to maintaining an informed electorate.
We reject internet censorship and other forms of government intervention into private lives.
>
> Do you support or oppose gay marriage?

We support it. Adults must be free to make their own lifestyle decisions, including marriage, without interference by the government or requiring its approval.
>
> What are your thoughts on abortion?

There should be no criminalisation of abortion other than for later term abortions where the foetus would be viable if born naturally.
>
> Do you support or oppose the legalisation of voluntary euthanasia?

The LDP believes adults have a right to end their own lives, with or without assistance, and to have access to information to help them do it.

>
> What are your thoughts on stem cell research?

We do not believe government should control scientific research for any reason…
>
> What are your thoughts on education?

We feel the government has too much influence on the education system which limits the choices available to parents and
adults seeking further education.

> What are your thoughts on campaign finance disclosure?

All donations should be a matter of public record.
>
> What are your thoughts on climate change?

The LDP believes governments lack the competence to address climate change and prefers market responses instead.
>
> What are your thoughts on water?

Government policies, by trying to supply water to the entire population at below market rates,
have caused an unnecessary water shortage at taxpayers’ expense while robbing natural ecosystems that rely on water.

>
> Do you support or oppose standing order 50?

I don’t feel that it is an appropriate custom in our secular society to appease only one deity.
>
> Are there any local issues you are trying to highlight with your campaign?
Excessive power of council of the individual property rights….
we should not have to ask council’s approval to cut a limb off a tree.
>
> What do you think about the media’s coverage of the election so far?

The main stream media has not brought enough attention to internet censorship… but perhaps that suits them.”

I think I’m going to have to add some economic questions for you LDP guys, considering you’re pushing the EXACT same policies that just saw the world plunge into a global recession.

At least I can take pleasure in the idea that you’re pumping SOME money into the governmental coffers by standing for election.
