Independent Candidate for Hasluck, Dot Henry, responded :

1.What are your thoughts on asylum seekers?
I support and the more the merrier. We need the numbers for sustainability. They would also have to fit in with our society.

2.What are your thoughts on public transport?
Public transport in Perth is very clean and accessible compared to some cities, although it doesn’t really work very well to ease congestion on roads and only adds to urban sprawl.
I think there needs to be more train lines ie could be one out to Ellenbrook.

3.What are your thoughts on renewable energy?
Even though we have vast amounts of resources, we seem to still have to pay so much for fuel. I feel strongly for renewable energy as the state and changing weather patterns in our planet at the moment are just a small indication of the climate change that we will be expecting. We have a lot of sun in this country, example photovoltaic energy plants. We should therefore utilize it.

4.Do you support or oppose the introduction of the R18+ rating classification for video games?
I do support the classification for 18+ for video games. Although its fair enough that we label these things as such, but parental control needs to be stronger as to what their teenagers and children get up to.

5.Do you support or oppose the proposed internet filter?
I support to a certain extent. Living in a world where children can access anything they like on the internet there needs to be some control.

6.Do you support or oppose gay marriage?
I support gay marriage. Everyone has the right to live the life they choose to liveand that’s their personal choice.

7.What are your thoughts on abortion?
I support abortion and this would depend on the individual and their circumstances.

8.Do you support or oppose the legalization of voluntary euthanasia?
I support voluntary euthanasia. Again this would depend on the individual and their circumstances.

9.What are your thoughts on stem cell research?

I support/oppose stem cell research and this would depend on the individual and their circumstances.

10.What are your thoughts on education?
I support and there should be lots of opportunities available.

11.What are your thoughts on campaign finance disclosure?
I support. If there is large amounts of money involved, definitely.
12.What are your thoughts on climate change?
Climate change is such a seriously huge issue and needs to be taken more seriously. Its one of those things that pops up every few years and a few people jump on the bandwagon but no one really knows how to tackle it. In saying no one knows what to do to tackle it, no one can find the feasible solutions of solving any problems. It could just be simple as having an earth hour every week or every day, where everything comes to a stand still, maybe one day it will be like this, but just because we don’t have the power to run a whole city and there are constant shut downs. Climate change is severely changing the way in which we use power and decreasing greenhouse gases. We can already see now, places in Australia having the coldest and hottest days ever recorded on record. The truth is that if the ice caps keep shifting and melting, our cities will be under water, especially Perth as it’s hugely at sea level.

13.What are your thoughts on water?
I support and am all for preserving underground reserves of water and continuing on with desalination. It’s expensive but it could be way to produce water.

14.Do you support or oppose standing order 50?
I support/oppose depends on who is involved.

15.Are there any local issues you are trying to highlight with your campaign?
I support health, education, safety and security the elderly. There are other issues, but it depends on priorities.

16.What do you think about the media’s coverage of the election so far?
A lot of wishy washy stuff with the two major parties. Other than that, we have had some good exposure.

“14.Do you support or oppose standing order 50?
I support/oppose depends on who is involved.”

Huh? I think it usually involves a bunch of politicians and a flying spaghetti monster or something.

I think that’s a blanket “I have no idea what you’re talking about” response.
