GILLARD AND ABBOTT ATTACKED BY FAMILY FIRST CANDIDATE

Labor and the Coalition to date have been conducting ‘me too’ campaigns rather than developing bold and decisive policies, claimed Joshua Olyslagers, Family First candidate for Blair.

“Each has produced basically worthwhile policies relating to the family unit with two major exceptions, seniors (pensioners and self-supporting retirees) and families entirely dependant on pensions.”

“Both claim Australia is in the best financial position compared to major world economies and although some countries aim to halve their deficits by 2013, Labor and the Coalition propose a return to surplus by 2013/14. While I support economic responsibility, I don’t think there are any prizes in the race to budget surplus at the expense of our disabled and aged pensioners and incapacitated young and old Australians.” said Mr Olyslagers.

“I firmly believe that the Australian people have more common sense and compassion than the Government or Opposition recognise. I am confident that the majority of people would glady accept a more measured approach to ending our deficit (perhaps 2015/16) to ensure better care for their fellow Australians struggling to survive because of a lack of Government support.”
