Liberal Democrats – More valuable reserves locked up

More valuable reserves locked up

Issued 11 August 2010

Once again we see the Greens celebrating as Labor promises to increase the use of coal burning power plants and carbon production by locking up another vast deposit of uranium from commercial production.

This time it is the massive Koongarra deposit in the Northern Territory, which holds billions of dollars worth of material.

Liberal Democrats (LDP) Senate candidate for Queensland, Mr Jim Fryar said today that while we are becoming used to this sort of action from the Labor/Green Party, it is time to call a halt to these incredibly stupid and short sighted policies.

“Just what the hell do they think they are playing at?” he asked. “These are the very people who are insisting that we have to move away from coal fired power stations, yet the moment a viable clean alternative becomes available, these idiots find an excuse to drop yet another national park over the top of it.”

“Labor and the Greens really have to get away from this ridiculous fetish about uranium, before they totally wreck the economy,” he said.

“With millions of people worldwide being provided with clean, cheap energy from hundreds of nuclear power stations, this form of economic Luddism has no basis in reality. These parties really need to advance beyond their old sixties mindset.”

Mr Fryar called on Tony Abbott to show some real leadership by giving a rock solid guarantee that if he is elected to govern he will revoke this decision.
