Greens voters vote on policy, not branding

I’m still deciding on the exact order of preferences for the nine people in my electorate.

With only Family First being secure in their 9th place on my ticket, there’s still some room for movement among the rest. As this is a ridonkulously safe Labor seat, I’ll probably have the incumbent below the challenger from the LNP to help shore up some more federal funds for the next 3 years.

There’s no pork-barrelling like my own electorate’s pork-barrelling, after all.

Maybe we should print out our own how to vote cards and go to the primary school down the street.

I am totally down with that!

It’s usually a bit of a carnival atmosphere.

A senior ALP campaigner likened it to Christmas Day in WWI. A general armistice where everyone involved would down arms and have a chat about how similar they all really were, and how nice it would be if we could all just get along.

Then Atko came along and called G4C supporters racists and vandals and shattered the illusion for a good half an hour. I doubt very much that we’ll see Julia come to any voting locations at all.

Probably because she’s less likely to want to violate electoral law.

On a different section of the front, one of the G4C volunteers spent most of the day chatting happily with Atko’s (then-?) wife.

Julia was at the Point Cook school down the road for the last election, but I do very much doubt an appearance this time. I would love to go and hand out my own cards, but alas I will be cooking our election night feast all day.

At least that will be one thing I can comfortably stomach on the day.

I still can’t believe Point Cook swung Labor in the 2007 election. I was certain that it would poll heavily in favour of the Liberals.

Oh, and JRepeat, according to the fact-o-meter on that ridiculous vote-a-matic site, 44% of people in Lalor earn less than $600 a week.

I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.
