Greens to close more forests and cut more jobs

A vote for the NSW Greens senate candidate, Lee Rhiannon, is a vote for job losses, the NSW Nationals Senator, Fiona Nash, said.

Lee Rhiannon called for a comprehensive plan to protect River Red Gums including in the state’s south east, at the NSW Greens campaign launch at the weekend.

She said it was an issue she’ll take to federal parliament if elected.

“The Greens demanded the NSW Labor Government lock up River Red Gum forests in the Riverina, in exchange for their support at the next state election,” Senator Nash said.

“That cost hundreds of workers their jobs and devastated the timber industry that many communities relied on. I have been to Deniliquin and have seen the impact and heart break.

“We now know that if Lee Rhiannon has her way, the same will happen in the south east.

“The timber industry is committed to sustainable logging if it’s to stay viable. Yet the Greens are determined to shut it down despite the consequences.

“And the Greens claim they represent rural and regional NSW.”

Lee Rhiannon also called for an end to the “grubby influence” of political donations.

The Australian Electoral Commission website shows the Greens have benefited quite nicely from thousands of dollars from unions.

The unions are far from saintly and are renowned for their grubby and bullying tactics,” Senator Nash said.

Senator Nash said a media report stating the Greens discussed a possible preference deal with far right groups including One Nation shows they’ll do anything to get the balance of power in Federal Parliament.

“It will be a disaster for people in rural and regional areas if that’s to happen,” she said

Just checked Fiona’s position on the ballot and it’s little wonder she’s so seemingly petrified of the Greens.

She’s got the #3 spot for the LNP in NSW.

Unless there’s some massive reversal in fortunes, she should get through in a canter, but you just never know… do you, Fiona?
