Democrats field Senate candidates in all states and territories

As proof of the revival of the party, the Australian Democrats are fielding Senate candidates in all states and territories.

The party’s National President, Julia Melland, says that with the close of nominations today she is delighted to reveal this.

“So many commentators have dismissed us, but we are back and once again giving that choice to voters of a party with progressive centrist policies, rather than the simple right wing choices of Labor and Liberal or the left wing choice of the Greens. We believe the people of Australia deserve better than that.

“We are particularly pleased to be fielding a team of two in Tasmania when we were unable to field anyone in the 2007 election,” said Ms Melland.

The Senate line up is:

ACT #1 Darren Churchill
#2 Anthony David

Northern Territory Ÿ Duncan Dean

NSW #1 Fiona Clancy
#2 Jen Mitchell
Queensland #1 Paul Stevenson
#2 Jen Cluse
South Australia #1 Jeanie Walker
#2 Andrew Castrique
Tasmania #1 Paulene Hutton
#2 Tim Neal
Victoria #1 Roger Howe
#2 Rick Westgarth
Western Australia #1 Paul Young
#2 Matthew Corica

“A better, bigger, brighter future for Northern Territorians with your Senate candidate Duncan Dean pledging to reverse the years of no real benefits from Canberra for the Territory and mend the many broken promises by current Senators Nigel Scullion and Patricia Crossin. – I will listen to you and act.”

For all I know, there might be a revival, but 15 people willing to stand, and the $15,000 to pay their nomination fees is not proof of such. It’s proof of 15 people and $15,000.

  • It is also proof there are more choices than just Abbott and Gillard…”)

No, it’s not. These are senate candidates. Senators do not form government.

What would be good is to actually get Dems Candidates to actually say something useful themselves on here beyond Rebuild Team Leader Kathryn Crosby’s rhetorical propaganda.

A classic example is how 1stNations Pre-eminent enduring Sovereignty has been swept under the carpet since the then Adelaide Branch gave advice in 1987 to Founding National Member & first female SA Lower House MP Mitchell now Waite Heather Southcott then “Hon” S Kanck learned in 2006 as MLC of both illegitimate Duke of Normandy “King” William IV sealing our fates with “South Australia Letters Patent” 19 Feb 1836 & Ramindjeri Call Over Ngarrindjeri-”['Kaurna]“. The latter being a farcical legal fiction “Nation” manipulatively manufactured out of Ngadjuri & Ramindjeri people. “Hon” Sandra effectively wrote the following policy platform after 4 years awareness without Ramindjeri http://www.sa.democrats.org.au/2009/platforms/Reconciliationpolicyplatform.pdf

Lead Senate SA Candidate Jeanie Walker is also an interesting operator …
