On Tuesday 17th August at 9pm ABC radio, Steve Austin interviewed Dr. Joo-Cheong Chan the author of ‘Money and Politics,The Demcracy We can not Afford.’ Dr. Chan has carried out the first major analysis of the funding of Australia’s political process.He has uncovered what a lot of us suspected,that the major political parties use foundations and various other methods to disguise the source of corporate donations.The corporations contribute to both major parties and contribute more to the one that occupies the government benches for obvious reasons.He also found that approx 50% of the contributions are not accounted for.
Dr. Joo-Cheong Chan is left in no doubt that the Liberal/National and the Labor Parties are engaged in anti-competitive behaviour toward the remainder competing in the political process.Minor parties and independents were placed at a distinct disadvantage.
Armed with this information, I contacted the ACCC to lodge a complaint.I was informed that the political process was outside the trade and commerce area and they were not able to act on my complaint.I responded by telling them that they spent ten of millions of dollars on advertising.They responded that they could not help.The Major Parties had conveniently put themselves outside ACCC legislation.I then called the AEC and lodged a complaint with them.They told me that they would pass it on,I am not holding my breath.
The Major Parties are not only engaged in anti –competitive behaviour,they have also openly and publically colluded to rub out the competitor,One Nation.They colluded to put One Nation last on the ballot paper.
