Leader of The Nationals, Warren Truss says this Saturday’s election offers regional Australians a choice between more taxes, more waste and more debt under Labor, or a Coalition Government which will get our nation back on track.

“My Nationals team and I are committed to ensuring the regions receive their fair share. We will deliver real improvements to roads, hospitals, schools, employment and training and community services,” Mr Truss said.

“We will deliver a fair share to families, seniors and small business owners. We will restore control of our borders and make our communities safer. We have a real action plan for health. Local boards will be in charge of local hospitals, not city bureaucrats and we will boost the number of doctors, nurses and dentists in regional areas. Mental Health will receive a $1.5 billion boost under a Coalition Government.

“We will invest in critical road and rail infrastructure and stimulate private investment in major infrastructure projects around regional Australia to reduce the burden on the taxpayer. We will cut taxes for small businesses and deliver better educational opportunities for our young people by making it more affordable for them to access tertiary education through Youth Allowance,” Mr Truss said.

Labor’s reckless spending and terrible waste on its pink batts and school halls programs has caused enormous damage to our economy and driven the nation into terrifying debt. Now, all Australians are paying the price. As a result of their secret preference deal with The Greens, a re-elected Rudd Gillard Government will impose a punishing carbon tax on all Australians as a first priority.

“This carbon tax which will place even more pressure on our cost of living and continue to drive up electricity, water and grocery prices.

“The Rudd Gillard Government’s term in office has been littered with broken promises, high taxes and high spending. If they’re re-elected, their so called health reforms will see regional health services cut, while Labor’s $43 billion NBN policy will cost every household $5000 without any guarantee of improved broadband services,” Mr Truss said.

Mr Truss has travelled extensively throughout regional Australia during the election campaign, visiting 70 cities and towns in 30 electorates from Charters Towers to Sale and Dubbo to The Tweed.

“We live in a great country, but things have really gone off track under Labor.

“The Nationals will deliver a fair share for the regions and a fair go for all Australians. We are the only Party to put regional Australia first. Think Local, Vote National,” Mr Truss said.
