If Labor and Greens act like the Liberals, they won’t be able to govern.

It seems the entire premise of that article is based on the assumption that the Coalition will just vote no on everything. Which is telling, considering it was written by a Liberal senator. (It also treats Gillard Government as a foregone conclusion)

It’s not a formal coalition between the Greens and Labor, it’s a governance agreement. All parties are, mostly, free to vote as they see fit on an issue. The only way the greens can be obstructionist, and stop stuff getting done, is if the Coalition decide to be obstructionist too. I’m not sure that the narrative of “that one Green ruined this bill!” is going to fly, so long as someone in the media has the balls to say “What about your 73 MPs? Couldn’t you guys have supported it?”

The opposition in a minority government can’t just sit by and be contrary as usual. They have the power to affect decisions, and people will notice if they don’t exercise that power and stick to throwing tantrums.
