Senator Gary Humphries today released the results of his householder survey, about issues of concern to the community, which was completed and returned by 327 Canberrans.
Enhancing neighbourhood safety was the issue of most concern to Canberrans who responded to my survey, followed closely by improving our roads to make journeys quicker and safer.
This was followed by pursuing direct action on climate change – a priority of many respondents.
This was followed by strengthening and securing Australia’s borders and increasing activities for youth in our community.
These in turn were followed by bringing more life and vibrancy to the edge of Lake Burley Griffin and providing more childcare services.
The next-ranked concern was improving paid parental leave.
Finally a significant number of people nominated stopping Jon Stanhope from imposing paid parking in the parliamentary triangle as an issue of major concern.
I will shortly be unveiling my comprehensive real local solutions plan to address Canberrans’ concerns in some of these areas.
