“Thank you for your Email.

I am a totally independent campaign with a staff of just me, myself and I. I think I need my head read for even thinking of this let alone putting another $1,000 on the plastic.

I have put my mortgage payments on hold for this, and $1,000 is more than my total bank finances.

here goes

Asylum Seekers. a very emotive topic that both sides of Big Politics are using to keep you distracted from a mass of other very serious issues. I favor detention while being screened, automatic rejection of those found to be economic refugees que jumping immigration, and those of a security risk.

I also favour only residency for others for a period of 10 years and deportation if found to be involved in spreading terrorism etc.

We are the best country in the world bar none, with a broad tolerance to a range of individual beliefs. Entry into our country must be subject to acceptance of the Australian constitution, with a commitment to assimilation.

Above all Australia must have control over who comes here. And we must have compassion.

Public transport. I have written letters saying we should have electric buses, with cheap fares. clean fuel and decongest the roads. Brisbane city has spent $#billion on the Clem 7 tunnel and no one wants to use it. they have built so many bridges across the Brisbane River you would think they are scared of the North side drifting away. already they are drilling test for another $8billion tunnel.

Renewable Energy. I am a fan of it. If you search for David Mills and AUSRA and Solar Towers you will find Peter Garret was pushing for this as opposition spokesman. John Howard was not interested in it, so David Mills took this Aussie Technology to Florida.
Anna Bligh went over to see it, and was impressed enough to try and get some of the billions KRudd was offering to clean energy. Nothing heard again.
Now the Canberra Copper Top is spruiking solar power. Should have been built by now.
I do support the rating of R18+ for video games. It will be futile because many parents will let their kids play them anyway. Studies have shown a link to desensitising people exposed to frequent television violence. Their is a genre of violent movie that has millions of fans who want more and more. So it is also with video graphics.

I was until I talked to an IT specialist.Firstly he said that this filter would block authorities tracking terrorist activities because it is easy to download a file to avoid it. he said the filter would hinder them tracking people.
also how long before government begins to say you can’t go here or there. China is a case of bad use of filtering, and no one trusts the Government anymore.

I am nuetral on Gay marriage. I am happy to give them the same recognition as defacto couples, and would not like to see them discriminated against.

I think abortion should be only on medical grounds. It should not be seen as a readily available option.

Voluntary Euthenasia should also be only on medical grounds, with strict guidelines. We have a health system in crisis and if someone is terminally ill they should have that option if they so desire. I don’t think large ques will form to use this option.

Stem cell research offers some medical breakthroughs. It should never be used to clone humans. All research projects should be closely monitored, and the scope of research submitted before any project starts.

Education is an area that confuses me. Public education in Australia has 60% of students but gets 30% of funding. I favor more of a % bsed funding with a bias toward smaller rural schools. many are struggling for resources. and more emphasis on early education. we seem to have a large % of young adults going into higher education with poor literacy skills.

Campaign finance disclosure should be a matter of public record as soon as it is recieved with disqualification for failure to disclose, regardless of position in parties.

Tony Abbott has already publicly said he will accept funding from mining companies, and Labour is union funded.

Climate change is real. go to the June 2010 copy of Readers Digest, Greenland article. If that does not convince you Carbon Pollution is accelerating Global Warming then I am sad for you. We need urgently to begin closure of coal fired power stations beginning with least efficient.

Water. Australia is a country of extremes. over 70% of our nation is so dry that it is either tussocky Grassland or scrub under 2 metres in hieght. we have a mainly wet Eastern edge, a wetter south west corner and a wet top end and north west corner.
we are the driest continent in the world. water will determine population sustainability. it is too cheap and so many squander it.

I had to Google standing order 50, the reading of the prayer by the president in the Senate. I would have had no objections to it being read, but as it seems to have been removed I would not kick up a fuss about its reinstatement.

I am running a campaign on sustainability.
Real Sustainability, long term.
In Queensland our grazing and crop lands are under threat of mining activities. I want Federal Legislation to Independantly assess land for economic or ecological values before exploration can commence. I want as part of this a requirement notify adjacent and directly affected landowners of the proposal, and to give assistance to their effort into landowner input.
I am also highly concerned at foreign investment into our foodlands. with world food production falling we could see a situation where our food is going overseas and a shortage locally, especially if our best foodlands have been destroyed by mining.

I am also concerned at Queenslands sale of its profitable state assets. I want Federal Legislation requiring A referendum on the sale of major Council, State or National Assets. We have payed for these with our rates and taxes. They belong to Australian Citizens. We have payed for the right to a say. They do not belong to only politicians.

I am concerned also at how easy it is for overseas interests to buy Australian companies. We don’t seem to own anything anymore. it is hard to buy Australian ownesd and made.

I am Against Uranium Mining. TOTALLY. I am a member of the Electrical Trades Union, Queensland. the ETU has produced a film with David Bradbury. Titled “When the “Dust Settles”it shows alarming statistics re Uranium mining.
One of Malcolm Turnbulls last comments as Liberal Leader was that “eventually Australia will need Nuclear Power stations. About 50, all around Australia” NO NO NO.

Julia Gillard wants a chat group on climate change, Tony Abbott wants parliament to be that chat group. Both are smoke screens. We need a commitment now, Real and Substantial.

I will be asking all voters to put Labour and Liberal last on the Ticket. I will be giving my preferences to the greens

I will only support an Emissions Trading Scheme if it compensates lower income Australians and does not compensate polluters. Use all moneys to fund clean renewable energy.

Carbon Capture is a joke, a trendy unworkable vote grab. It requires new powerstaions to be built, because it can’t be retrofitted. use the money to build Ausra and Solar towers in couplet.

I have a face book of Donald Bambrick open to all

thank you

Don Bambrick “

    Thanks for responding.

I’d like to see a link to the 60% of students, 30% of funding statistics. Not calling you a liar, just interested to see the basis for these stats.

Pet peeve of mine – Antarctica is the driest continent, not Australia.

I’d be surprised if standing order 50 had been removed, especially without a certain contributor who’s David shall remain anonymous hearing about it. Crap, I meant “name”, not David. Link?

  • Ygfi

hrm, sounds a little like a nationalist, but at least this guy’s got a brain!
then again, from what i hear from my friends in QLD, he could be relatively left of the major parties.

  • David

I was going to comment on that last night, but given time constraints I couldn’t work up the energy.

If Standing Order 50 had been removed, we would have heard Jim Wallace bitching his arse of on every available media channel. It is still very much a part of our day-to-day parliament, and I find the level of ignorance surrounding the topic not only frustrating, but goddamn infuriating.

Go here for more information on when and how it was introduced, as supporters of it will claim it has always been a part of our system, which is a goddamned lie.
